HOUSTON – A man has been arrested in connection with a shooting at a west Houston car dealership.
Houston police said the shooting happened at the Mak Haik Chevrolet pre-owned vehicle dealership in the 11700 block of the Katy Freeway, between Kirkwood and Dairy Ashford, about 9:30 a.m. Friday.
Witnesses said an employee and sales manager got into an argument that escalated into a fistfight. The employee pulled out a gun and shot the sales manager in the neck, police said.
The wounded man was rushed to Memorial Hermann Hospital. His name and condition were not released.
Police said they tracked down the employee, Keith Edward Grimmett, 49, and arrested him on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. That charge could be upgraded if the manager does not survive.
While he was in the back of a police car, Grimmett said, "I tried to sit down and have a man-to-man talk with him and tried to get an understanding, but it went south."
Employees who witnessed the shooting said they were in shock.
"It's been a crazy, crazy morning, but God spared all of our lives today," one employee said. "Most people like this, they go into a rampage.
