Houston police said the woman was working on her bills at her dining room table in an apartment in the 3800 block of North Braeswood on Aug. 8, 2003. When she got out of her chair, Gordon attacked her, police said.

"I never saw him," said the now 86-year-old woman, who did not want to be identified. "Soon as I got up he charged me. I screamed and I kept screaming."

Detectives said Gordon punched the woman in her face and she began praying because she thought she was going to die.

Gordon punched the woman, took her coin jar and piggy bank from her bathroom and bedroom and then tied her hands with a clock radio, police said.

Investigators said Gordon raped the woman in a dark room before he left with her money and purse.

DNA from a rape kit was entered into the Combined DNA Index System. In September 2012, Gordon was found to be a match.

"I was completely surprised ... after all this time," the woman said. "I would like for him to go to jail so he doesn't do anything to anybody else."

Gordon's criminal history includes convictions on charges of unauthorized use of motor vehicle, auto theft, burglary of motor vehicle, assault, evading arrest, possession of marijuana and credit card abuse.
