HOUSTON – A man has been arrested and charged with the murder in the death of Martha Closner in 2001, authorities said.
Larry Lozano, 40, was arrested Sept. 20 after DNA evidence was re-examined and connected him to Closner's death.

Closner, 35, of Beaumont, was found dead near her car on Fairdale Street in southwest Houston around 6:20 a.m. July 25, 2001.
Closner had been shot in the head after leaving work at a club. Police said her keys were in the ignition, but her purse and ID were missing.
Houston Police Department’s cold case unit identified a new witness, which determined Lozano was a suspect, officers said.
Additional interviews were conducted, and Lozano was arrested by deputies with the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office.
