FRIENDSWOOD, Texas - A Houston man has been charged with attempted kidnapping after neighbors in a Friendswood apartment complex reported suspicious activity.

According to police, Felicito Cruz, 42, was reported at the Bay Meadows Apartments located at the 17000 block of Blackhawk on July 17.

The mother of two toddlers told police she was outside when Cruz approached her.

She told police that Cruz had a conversation about her children and the whereabouts of her husband.

She said Cruz then took the hand of one of the children and began to walk away with the child.

When the mother realized what was happening, she ran and grabbed her child away from the man and called police, officers said.

The next morning, police received surveillance video of a suspect.

Two witnesses positively identified Cruz in a photo lineup as the man that attempted to walk away with the child.

He was located and arrested by police.

Cruz is charged with attempted kidnapping and his bond was set at $52,000.

He is currently being held in the Harris County Jail.
