Man arrested after overturning ATM at Walmart

HOUSTON – A Harris County man is facing charges after investigators said he knocked over an ATM at a Walmart store.

A Harris County sheriff's deputy was called June 24 to store on North Freeway in north Harris County on.

The store's loss prevention worker told the deputy that he heard a loud thump and saw a man pacing back and forth.

Another witness said she heard the man yelling offensive words inside the store.

That witness said she told the man to stop yelling. He told her he was upset because he had inserted his driver's license into the machine and could not get it back.

Employees tried to calm the man down.

Instead, according to deputies, he squeezed between the machine and the wall and pushed the ATM over onto the ground.

The deputy said the machine's computer screen was locked and its outside was damaged.

A technician estimated the damage at $10,000.

Investigators identified the man as Latrone Jeffery Brown.

He was charged with criminal mischief but has not yet been arrested.
