Man arrested after high-speed chase, 30-minute search

HPD: Man had drugs in his possession

HOUSTON – A driver who led police on a chase that turned into a 30-minute manhunt after he ditched his car has been caught.

Police said they caught the man going 95 miles per hour on the North Freeway and Aldine Bender.

Investigators said the man led officers on a five-minute chase before ditching his car and running into a wooded area in northwest Houston.

Police, a K-9 unit and a helicopter searched the area for about 30 minutes.

Officials said the suspect was eventually spotted walking down a sidewalk on Rankin and was taken into custody.

Officers said the man was intoxicated and had marijuana and crack cocaine in his possession.
