Man accused of using fake checks to buy luxury cars

HOUSTON – A Houston man was arrested after officials said he used fake checks to buy luxury cars.

Investigators said Carroll Jourbert Jr., 47, wrote fake checks that appeared to be from the Federal Reserve of George to buy five vehicles.

Deputies said Jourbert used his real name and driver's license number to buy the cars from Carmax.

He was arrested when he returned to the dealership to pick up three of the cars.

Authorities said the vehicles were worth $297,000 and included a Corvette and Cadillac Escalade.
