Someone is paying off layaway accounts at a local Walmart. Three different people are going into the store and making these anonymous payments.
Ellen Estes is a disabled grandmother on a fixed income who hasn't worked in eight years. Ellen picked out a Razor scooter and another toy and put it on layaway at an Alvin Walmart.
"It was a little over $100," said Estes.
They were going to be gifts for her 9-year-old grandson, Jonathan.
The store manager called Estes and told her someone paid her bill.
"It means a lot because I was actually thinking about cancelling it and he wasn't going to be able to get it. I wasn't going to be able to give it to him," she said.
Estes had planned on making small payments until the gifts were paid for in time for Christmas, but now she doesn't have too.
Walmart says three separate people have come in over the last few days and paid the remaining balances on ten different layaway accounts.
"I'm thankful. I thank the Lord and the Good Samaritan who pulled my name and paid it out because it means a lot to me," she said.
Walmart tells us the Good Samaritan want to remain anonymous . Three separates donors have paid about $1,000 in layaway bills.
