Mailman talks about finding bomb

Unclear what type of explosives used

GALVESTON, Texas – It's unclear what type of explosives were used in homemade bomb found inside a mailbox at an apartment complex in Galveston.

"It was something that I knew it wasn't a piece of mail. I know that," said the mailman.

The mailman reported the suspicious package to police about 4:30 p.m. Monday.

"I notified my supervisor and they took it over from there," said the mailman.

Officers responded to the scene at the Ashton Place Apartments on Lasker and called in the Texas City Regional Bomb Squad.

Using robots and bomb technicians, the device was collected and sent in for forensic analysis.

The device did not detonate during the retrieval operation, and no one was injured.
