HOUSTON – Ever loved someone's top or skirt, but didn't feel right asking them where they got it? There's an app for that.
Just like you might pick up your smartphone and "Shazam" a song on the radio to find out who sings it, the makers of "ASAP54" hope you'll pick up your phone the next time you want to know more about a pair of shoes, a skirt or a cool necklace.
ASAP54 is a free iPhone app that uses visual recognition technology and crowdsourcing to find similar products for sale online.
Like those snake-print wedges? Just snap and upload a picture. The app searches the database and offers up similar products that you can buy on the spot.
But it won't just search for jewelry, clothing, and accessories. If you're drawn to a particular color or design, just snap a picture and the app will look for similar shades, prints, or patterns.
