"I would like to thank everybody for praying for me," Neal said. "I appreciate your kind thoughts. I'm going to work on getting well so I can get back to school and get my life back in order."

Harris County sheriff's deputies said Trey Foster, 22, shot Neal, a maintenance man and a friend, 22-year-old Carlton Berry. Berry was misidentified as the shooter and charged, but he has been cleared.

Detectives said the shooting happened after Neal bumped into Foster.

Foster has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He's being held in the Harris County Jail with bond set at $100,000.
