LIBERTY, Texas – Several men accused of raping an 11-year-old girl appeared in court Monday.
A source told KPRC Local 2 Investigates that a judge wanted to make sure attorneys for the 14 adults charged had received the plea deals offered by the district attorney's office.
The men who appeared in court had very little to say as they left.
"Man, get out of my face," said Jamarcus Norris Napper, 18, as he tried to push away a KPRC Local 2 camera. "I'm innocent. Now, get me the (expletive) off the camera."
Other ran into waiting cars with their faces covered.
The KPRC Local 2 Investigates source said the plea deals being offered are based on the level on involvement in the alleged crime, but all involve lengthy prison time.
A DNA report has also been completed, but the source said it only ties specific suspects to items and locations.
The 14 adults and six juveniles are charged with sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl at several abandoned homes in Cleveland. Police said the rapes happened over a three-month period in 2010. Detectives said some of the assaults were captured on cellphone video.
All of the men charged are expected back in court after Jan. 1st to decide whether to go to trial.
Three of the juveniles charged in the case have accepted plea deals. No details of those agreements have been released.
