Still no sign of missing teen in San Jacinto River

MATAGORDA COUNTY, Texas – The water level in San Jacinto river dropped about a foot since Thursday, making it difficult for searchers to get their boats in the water.

But the water level and even the rain didn't stop emergency crews from continuing their search for 18-year-old Jared Brimhall.

Law enforcement and volunteers have spent  two-and-a-half days searching the river near where Brimhall and his girlfriend went swimming just before 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. His father says they both got stuck in the extreme current.

"They both went down twice, she came up and grabbed a tree limb, and my son had grabbed her leg, but he couldn't hold on. Last thing he told her was, 'I love you and everything will be OK'," says Jared's father Kevin Sheridan.

His girlfriend made it out safely but Brimhall still hasn't been found. Brimhall's father and friends have searched the fast moving river alongside multiple law enforcement agencies.

They are using everything from boats, to a helicopter, to personal watercrafts, and even a drone.

His sister says Jared is a father of a 2-month-old baby boy.

"He is also an uncle, of two boys, which are mine, Samual and Cayden, he has got people looking for him, we have been looking for the last three days," says Jared's sister Kayla Brimhal.

Jared is set to graduate this weekend from Conroe High School and his father fears he will have to be the one to accept his son's diploma.

"It is not good, the outcome is not good at all, I hate to be that way, but it is looking that way, really bad," says Sheridan.

His father is asking anyone in the area with ATVs or jet skis to come help search for his son.
