Toddler dies after TV, dresser falls on her

Autumn Rose Davis' organs being donated

CYPRESS, Texas – A 15-month-old girl died Wednesday after a TV and a dresser fell on top of her.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office said the girl, Autumn Rose Davis, was trying to climb on a dresser when a TV on top of it fell on her at a home at 18518 Bridoon Dr. near Paddock Bend in Cypress on Tuesday evening.

The girl was airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where she died.

Relatives said the girls' mother went into the bathroom for about two minutes when the accident happened.

"That's all it took," grandfather David Smith said. "Our world was upside down."

Relatives said they donated Autumn Rose's organs to help other children in need.

"Wanted that to be done so that Autumn would live on and help another little baby live, or a couple babies live," Smith said.

Family members said Autumn Rose has a twin sister who was also crawling on the dresser at the time of the incident. She was not hurt.

The family is accepting donations to help pay for Autumn Rose's funeral. Anyone wishing to donate may do so at any Woodforest National Bank location. The donations should be addressed to her mother, Kelli Staggs, with Autumn Rose's name in the memo line.
