Bill Dowling was among the 13 firefighters injured in the 5-alarm fire at the Southwest Inn back in May that also killed four firefighters.

Bill and his wife, Jackie Dowling, are Klein Oak alumni and the students wanted to give back to one of their own.

Students designed a t-shirt that will be sold during homecoming week and through out the month of October.

Several schools that feed into Klein Oak along with district administrative offices are also participating.

A check will be presented to Jacki Dowling on October 25 during the pregame celebration at the Klein Memorial Stadium.

The funds are still being collected and tallied but the school is anticipating more than $20,000.
