School bus driver accused of leaving students

HOUSTON – Aldine ISD school officials conducted an investigation after reports surfaced that one of the district's bus drivers suddenly dropped off a busload of students 10 miles away from the school.

According to reports, the bus was on its way to Compass Alternative School Monday morning, when the driver's wife called and told him someone had broken into their home.  Apparently she was home alone with their 4-year-old grandchild at the time.

The driver pulled the bus over, told the 11 students to get off the bus, and left them in the Kenswick Subdivision, which school officials told Local 2 is 10 miles from the school.

Aldine ISD released a statement, saying in part:

"An investigation is underway concerning an allegation that has been made against one of the district's bus drivers.  Once the investigation is completed, appropriate action will be taken."
