Mother of victim allegedly killed by boyfriend speaks out

BUFFALO, Texas – A man wanted for stabbing, killing, burning and burying his girlfriend in the backyard of her northwest Harris County home is being held on $250,000 bond, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

"Our family was very concerned that someone else would be hurt," said G.G. Marshall, the mother of victim Wende Marshall, who failed to show up at a family gathering on November 1.

A subsequent investigation revealed she had been murdered.

Colt Morgan, 29, disappeared in early November. He remained on the run more than month before he was discovered Tuesday in Leon County. He had been living in a homemade tent.

G.G. Marshall told Local 2 her daughter had an off-and-on relationship with Morgan.

"Even when they were seeing each other, it was never convenient for him to come to our house," Marshall said of the man she rarely saw. "Our daughter was a very warm, non-judgmental, affectionate person. She would rescue all kinds of things: dogs, cats, people."

G.G. Marshall said that her daughter met Morgan at a previous job. Marshall is now trying to prepare herself emotionally to endure an unending calendar of court dates for her daughter's suspected killer.

"I think that we owe it to our daughter to be there and standup for her," she said.

Morgan is scheduled to appear before a judge on Thursday.
