Men on the run after stealing day care center van, robbing Citibank

HARRIS COUNTY – Local and federal authorities are investigating an armed bank robbery involving a stolen van from a north Harris County day care center.

The FBI said investigators were called to the Citibank, located at 12707 W. FM 1960, around 11:45 a.m. Friday for a bank robbery.

Authorities said after leaving the bank, the two armed suspects dumped their getaway van near Haven Crossing and Crossroads Park. Sky 2 aerials showed a white van, with the Allstars Afterschool Club logo on it, in the middle of a residential lawn.

The unidentified men were still at large Friday night.

"We were like who wants to use a daycare van for a robbery, a big white van," a day care employee told Local 2.

Allstars Afterschool Club on West Rankin Road near 1-45 appeared to be the first target of the robbers' crime spree.

Surveillance video from the day care shows two men breaking into and driving off in the same van that would be recovered 12 hours later. It is unclear if the men who stole the van are the same men who robbed the bank.

Nobody was injured in either incident. The FBI would not reveal, Friday, whether bank surveillance cameras caught images of the suspects.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office is assisting the FBI with this investigation.
