Man shot in ambush at northwest Harris County home

HSCO: Victim may have been followed home from work

HOUSTON – A man was ambushed and shot while walking into his northwest Harris County home.

Harris County deputies said the victim had just arrived at his home in the 2700 block of South Camden Parkway and Elk Springs Drive when a man with a gun demanded his money early Tuesday.

The two men fought, but during the struggle, the homeowner managed to shut the front door on the gunman. The gunman then fired shots through the door and the victim was hit in the chest, investigators said.

Paramedics transported him to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he is expected to survive.

The victim's wife and two teenage children were inside the house during the attack.  They were not hurt.

The gunman got away in a blue or silver Chevy Impala.

Deputies believe the gunman may have followed the victim home from work and specifically targeted him.
