Lanes close after 2 motorcycle accidents in NW Harris County

Two different motorcycle accidents on Sunday evening have closed the eastbound main lanes of U.S. 290 at Baker Cypress Road.

NORTHWEST HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Two different motorcycle accidents Saturday evening closed the eastbound main lanes of U.S. 290 at Baker Cypress Road, according to Harris County deputies.

A Cypress Fair firefighter told Local 2 that the accidents happened 15 minutes apart.

The first accident occurred under the overpass at U.S. 290 at Barker Cypress Road. Officials said the victim of that accident was taken to a local hospital, but was eventually pronounced dead.

The second accident occurred at U.S. 290 at Telge Road. Officials said the victim had non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

Officials said there were no details on how the accidents happened.

Harris County deputies expected the lanes to reopen at 8 p.m. They also said once the scene cleared, one lane would remain closed throughout the evening.
