Kim Ogg announces candidacy for Harris County DA

HARRIS COUNTY – A former assistant prosecutor announced Monday her candidacy to become the next Harris County District Attorney.

Kim Ogg has worked for the district attorney's office as chief felony prosecutor. She is also the former director of Crime Stoppers of Houston.

Ogg said she will run as a Democrat in the March 4 primary.

Republican Devon Anderson was appointed DA last week to replace her late husband, Mike Anderson.

Anderson's campaign released the following statement Monday commenting on Kim Ogg's entry into the 2014 race.

"Devon Anderson will be a candidate for election 2014," said Allen Blakemore, advisor to the campaign. "A formal announcement will be made in October."
