The man was taken by medical helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center where he underwent surgery.

Deputies said the victim was shot through the door when he refused to open up for the intruders.

It is unclear if the suspects took anything, but they were no longer at the scene when deputies arrived.

As detectives searched the victim's home for evidence, they decided to bring in a K-9 unit to help.

A K-9 unit helped deputies uncover several bales of marijuana worth hundreds of dollars.

Because the victim was in hospital, deputies have not said what kind of charges he will face.

Deputies are still searching for the suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers 713-222-TIPS.
