HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Authorities are asking for the public's help in identifying a man who robbed a dollar store at gunpoint.

Investigators said a surveillance camera captured the robbery at a store in the 2600 block of Eldridge Parkway in Harris County.

Harris County sheriff's deputies, the man was talking on a smartphone during checkout around 9:55 p.m. on Feb. 22.

He continued his conversation on the way to the front exit, where he hung up and attempted to lock the doors of the store, deputies said. 

Unable to secure the exit, the man drew a pistol and ordered a woman to lock the doors and empty the store's safe, investigators said. 

Deputies said the victim was led to a back room, where another store employee emptied the safe, and surrendered its contents.  The man fled through a back emergency exit with an unknown amount of cash.

The man was described as a black, between the ages of 45 to 55 years old, 6 feet 11 inches tall and about 260 to 280 pounds. Investigators said he has short hair and piercing in his left ear.

At the time of the offense, the man wore a black baseball cap, dark-colored sweatshirt, blue jeans and black shoes, deputies said.
