HCSO: Man dies after trying to break in big rig

HCSO: 1 Suspect dead, another at large

HARRIS COUNTY – A trucker was questioned Tuesday by Harris County deputies after he confronted two men breaking into his big rig in northeast Harris County and one died.

Deputies said the trucker was parked in the 8500 block of C. E. King Parkway and Tidwell Road late Monday to drop off his load. When he returned to his big rig, he found two men with a bunch of tools trying to get inside, investigators said.

Deputies said the suspects grabbed a crowbar and took a swing at the trucker. A fight broke out and the trucker managed to get a hold of the crowbar and threw it at one of the suspects, according to investigators. The bar hit the suspect in the back and knocked him down, officials said.

The two men fought in the median. When emergency crews arrived, the suspect was dead. The second suspect got away.

Deputies said the suspect's name was not released. They said he was in his 60s and only had a bus ID in his possession. An autopsy will determine his cause of death.

An investigation is under way.
