Five men pull off violent robbery of Spring bank

One of the customers in the bank was pistol-whipped

HOUSTON – The search is on for five violent crooks who robbed a bank in northwest Harris County, even pistol-whipping one customer.

In a panic, the Molina family stands outside the Bank of America at Kuykendahl near Louetta waiting to be reunited with their loved one again. A 12-year-old boy says his father, Santos Molina, was a customer inside the bank when three armed robbers dressed in black violently stormed in.

"They hit his head with a pistol," the boy told Local 2.

Investigators say employees and four customers were trapped inside when the robbers pistol-whipped Molina, held up the bank, then took off with bags of cash.

As a worker alerted police, Molina made a different call to his family asking them to come to the bank.

"He called my mom," said the son.

As the boy's father was treated on the scene, investigators followed the money. Deputies say they found the getaway vehicle, a stolen mini-van, abandoned about four miles away off Marilyn and FM 2920.

The robbers were gone, but a bag and box of stolen bank coins were discovered on the ground.

The FBI is investigating.
