HARRIS COUNTY, Texas - A two-alarm fire tore through an apartment complex Tuesday afternoon in northwest Harris County.
The Harris County Fire Marshal's Office says the blaze hit the Village of Copperfield apartments on Point Northwest near Highway 6.
HCFMO says heavy fire and smoke was pouring from the apartments when firefighters first arrived.
Sky 2 aerials showed one building appeared to be destroyed after flames tore through the roof. A firefighter was on top of the frame when it collapsed. We're told he was not injured.
Two other firefighters were treated at the scene for minor heat exhaustion.
Officials say 11 families were displaced by the fire. The American Red Cross will be offering assistance to them.
Arson investigators with the Harris County Fire Marshal's Office are investigating the cause of the fire.
"The cause of the fire is under investigation," said Lt. Dean Hensley of the Harris County Fire Marshal Office.
Authorities believe the fire started in a second-story unit in the back of the building.
