Family of 5 safe after car crashed into home

Police said driver fled the scene

HOUSTON – Police said a family of five will have to remodel their northeast Harris County home after a reckless driver lost control and hit their home early Monday morning.

The accident happened around 2:00 a.m. Monday morning at the intersection of Percy Road and Mohawk.

Deputies said the driver left the Lincoln Town Car lodged in the home and ran before emergency crews arrived.

"There was a loud noise and smoke," said homeowner Rita Canseco. "The car hit the barrier, ran through the gate and went into the living room. The kids were sleeping in their bedrooms, but it was scary for them."

The dad grabbed his 3- and 6-year-olds and ran outside, while Canseco says she was on the phone calling for help.

When deputies arrived, the suspect was gone. The suspect's car did not have license plates.

Deputies said they will search the car and take inventory of the items inside to link evidence to the suspected driver.

No one was hurt.
