Driver arrested after high-speed chase

Deputies: Driver had drugs, cash in car

HOUSTON – A driver was arrested after high-speed chase on Thursday morning, deputies said.

Harris County sheriff's deputies said the chase started around 1 a.m., when they tried to pull over the driver near Kuykendahl Road and Ella Boulevard in north Harris County.

Deputies said the driver refused the stop and led them on a chase on the North Freeway.  At times, he was going more than 90 miles per hour, officials said.

Houston TranStar video showed the driver leading deputies up the freeway all the way to Montgomery County and back again.

At times, he tried to lose deputies by making u-turns.

Eventually, deputies threw out spikes to flatten the car's tires.

The driver bailed out of the car and tried to run, but was captured in a business parking lot.

Deputies said they found bags of marijuana and money inside his car.

"We do have drugs in the vehicle, along with the suspect who was throwing drugs, we believe, on the freeway during the pursuit," said Sergeant David Hilborn of the Harris County Sheriff's Department.

The driver will likely face charges of evading arrest and drug possession with intent to sell.
