Deputies: Driver shot during armored car robbery outside Walgreen's

It happened Friday morning outside a Walgreen's in northeast Houston

HARRIS COUNTY – Authorities said the driver of an armored car was shot during a robbery in northeast Houston.

It happened around 10:15 a.m. Friday outside a Walgreens on Little York at the Eastex Freeway.

Harris County sheriff's deputies said the Loomis driver pulled up to the store and got out of the vehicle when he was approached by two suspects who demanded money.

Officials said a fight began and the armored guard was shot once. There's no word yet on the guard's condition.

The suspects drove off in a white sedan before police arrived. 

Authorities said a money bag and gun were found on the ground.

Police said some of the customer's vehicles were where hit by bullets.

Authorities have not released any other information at this time.
