County worker accused of stealing gift cards meant for needy teens

She allegedly used the money to pay for a cruise and pay her bills

HOUSTON – A Harris County worker is accused of paying for a cruise with gift cards meant for needy teens.

Keshia Solomon, an administrative technician with Harris County Child Protective Services, has been charged with theft by public servant and misapplication of fiduciary property.  Investigators say she misapplied and stole 170 gift cards worth more than $3,000.

They say Solomon used the money to pay bills and take a cruise.

The gift cards were supposed to go to teenagers who were leaving CPS and starting out on their own.
