HOUSTON - Police said the two men who were arrested after targeting a northwest Harris County convenience store Thursday morning are connected to a string of other smash-and-grabs in the area.
After looking at surveillance video, deputies determined the suspects used a stolen pickup to smash through the front of the Champions Food Store.
In less than two minutes, they were able to load the ATM into the back of the truck and drive away.
Houston police later found the stolen pickup abandoned off of Highway 59 and Little York Road.
The ATM was not in the truck. Investigators said it appears the machine was loaded into another vehicle.
Investigators said the stolen Dodge pickup used in the robbery was reported missing out of Jasper, Texas.
Police said two men were taken into custody.
Officials said this ATM robbery is connected to other smash-and-grabs in the area.
Joel Eisenbaum will have more on these developments tonight on Local 2 News.
