Authorities said the operation targeted suspects who solicited sex from prostitutes and the prostitutes themselves.

According to the sheriff's office, the operation was conducted this week along the Interstate 45 North and Eastex Freeway frontage roads just south of Beltway 8.

During the sting operation, undercover female deputies posed as prostitutes working the streets. Male undercover deputies were also used to canvass the area to search for women who were soliciting sex for money.

All sixteen people arrested were charged with prostitution.

The sheriff's office said it will conduct similar reverse prostitution operations throughout the year as they target not only those who solicit sex, but also those who sell sex.
