GALVESTON, Texas - The Texas City dike and Galveston's east beach reopened Tuesday, three weeks after the Houston Ship Channel oil spill.

Nearly 170,000 gallons of fuel oil spilled into Galveston Bay on March 22.

A barge and cargo ship collided.

According to officials, the dike and east beach were cleaned following the spill.

The oil stream extended into the Gulf of Mexico and then southward along the Texas coast.
