Animal control officers raided the Whiskerville Animal Sanctuary in January. They found nearly 200 neglected cats and dozens of others dead.

The surviving cats were taken to the Galveston County Animal Resources Center and the Galveston County Humane Society.

Both shelters are offering adoption specials.  A promotional event will be held Thursday at PetSmart in the 6100 block of Broadway from 4 to 8 p.m.
