SUGAR LAND, Texas - Sugar Land police have released the name of one of the two men connected to Friday's deadly shooting at a Sugar Land industrial park. Investigators are looking for Huver Oregon-Reyes and another man.
Officials said Reyes and another man walked into Global Case Work Manufacturing, Inc. located on Industrial Boulevard just before 9 a.m. Friday.
"Witnesses saw the two suspects approach the victim. They got into a verbal altercation which resulted to a weapon being pulled," said Captain Stuart Denton, with the Sugar Land Police Department.
Police said the men shot the employee -- identified as Marlon Alexander Palencia Castaneda -- in the chest. Castaneda, 33, died at the scene.
Police have not released a motive, but said Castaneda was specifically targeted. Investigators said before the shooting the two men walked into a business in the same industrial park and asked for the victim by name. Not recognizing the name, an employee at the business suggested they try Global Casework Manufacturing.
Sugar Land police said nearly a dozen employees were in the building when the shooting occurred, but it was unclear how many were in the warehouse area where the shooting occurred.
Co-workers told Local 2 that Castaneda was originally from Guatemala and had worked at the business for several years.
"He's a good guy, a very nice guy," said co-worker Dang Vuong.
Fort Bend Independent School District officials said four schools, including Sugar Mill Elementary, Lakeview Elementary, M.R. Wood Center for Learning and Sugar Land Middle School, were placed under a "shelter in place" while police searched the surrounding area for the gunmen. The "shelter in place" was lifted at around 11:15 a.m.
The Sugar Land Police Department released surveillance videos of the wanted men and the vehicle of interest. They are now looking for a light-colored Acura SUV.
Anyone who recognizes the other man or has any information regarding this crime is asked to contact the Sugar Land Police Department at 281-275-2500 or Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers at 281-342-TIPS (8477).
