Sheriff: Burglars smash through bedroom door, target jewelry

Crime Stoppers offer reward for info in August burglary

RICHMOND, Texas – Officials in Fort Bend County want to know who burglarized a home in the Sugar Land area last month — and they’ll pay cash to find out.

Just before 9 a.m. on Aug. 3, two people crawled over a backyard fence, then broke into a home in the 7100 block of Sage Walk, near Oilfield Road and South University Drive, according to the Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers.

The burglars smashed the glass out of a master bedroom’s door, Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office deputies said.

One person appeared to be heavy-set, and wore red pants, a gray hooded sweatshirt, a bandana over his face, white tennis shoes, gardening gloves and a gray safari-style hat. The other was on a cellphone, and wore a yellow florescent reflector vest with orange stripes — the kind sometimes worn by lawn mowing crews. He also had on gardening gloves, blue jeans and white sneakers.

Officials said the burglars targeted watches, other jewelry, high-end purses and a cellphone.

The getaway car appeared to be a gray, four-door sedan, possibly a Toyota or a Lexus, Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers said.

Officials are worried the men will sell the stolen items either to friends, or pawn shops. They urged people with information to get in touch.

A cash reward of up to $5,000 is available, if the details provided help lead to an arrest.
