Houston man faces charges in Direct TV burglary, chase

SUGAR LAND, Texas – Police say Houston man faces charges after he stole items from a Direct TV store and led police on a chase.

It happened around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday at the store at 203 Century Square near Highway 90.

Sugar Land police say an officer was on patrol when he saw a white van parked in front of Direct TV. The officer got closer and saw that the glass door had been shattered.

Police say a man, identified as Torron Alexander, was seen running from the store. He then jumped in the van and drove off.

The officer followed the van east on Highway 90 to the 4700 block of Knottynold Lane. That's where Alexander got out of the van and started running.

Houston police officers assisted Sugar Land police with their search for Alexander. He was located a short time later.

Sugar Land police say stolen property from Direct TV was found in the van.

Alexander, 41, was arrested and charged with burglary of a building, unauthorized use of a vehicle and evading.
