FBCSO has son of slain Katy couple in custody

Investigators using high-tech security to find answers

KATY, Texas – Fort Bend County Sheriff's deputies have arrested Ryan Walton.

An off-duty officer with the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office saw Walton Highway 59 and F.M. 762 around 12:30 p.m.

A sergeant took Walton into custody in front of a business at the intersection of Fourth Street and U.S. 90A.

Walton faces two charges of murder and is being held in the Fort Bend County Jail without bond.

The 20-year-old was previously last seen at his parent's home about three weeks ago. Neighborhood surveillance saw him driving his mother's vehicle at 9 a.m. Thursday leaving the gates of his parent's subdivision.

More details will be posted as they make their way to the KPRC newsroom.

EARLIER:

Around 5 p.m. Thursday, deputies arrived to the scene after a 911 call. One of the couple's older sons, 24, found his parents, Michael and Lynda Walton, dead on the first floor of their home.

The home is on North Point Place in the gated Lake Pointe Estates subdivision.

Authorities said that their initial investigation shows the couple was shot, but it's unclear if that's how they died. Autopsies are being done to determine their cause of death.

The sheriff said there was no sign of forced entry into the home which has an appraised value of well over $1.4 million, according to the property appraisers website.

"Our detectives are looking at the home's video surveillance. Obviously the gated community has surveillance of vehicles going in and out. So we are in the process of looking at all of that to try and determined exactly what happened here."

Nehls said the neighborhood was very secure with every person and vehicle through the gate photographed and identified before being allowed inside.

He said the Walton's had multiple children living in the home and possibly more away at college. It was unclear where the other children were at the time of the murders.

The 20-year-old recently attended Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi.

Friends of the family also told Local 2 there had been some conflict in the family recently, some unresolved issues involving Ryan.

Michael and Lynda Walton had four kids -- three boys and a daughter who is still in high school and about to graduate.

Nehls said neighbors told him the couple was well respected and may have had some part in developing the exclusive Lake Pointe Estates community.
