Controlled burn held in wildlife refuge

ANGLETON, Texas – A wildlife refuge in Brazoria County conducted a burn off on Tuesday.

At 11:30 a.m. the Brazoria County Sheriff's Department confirmed a fire that could be seen for several miles was in fact a controlled burn.

The sheriff's department said it was a prescribed burning of 3,866 acres along Highway 2004 and Country Road 227.

The fire poses no danger to the public or the surrounding area and is set to burn throughout the day.
