Wingstop shooting suspect arrested watching movie 'No Escape' at theater

HOUSTON – Deputies have arrested a man accused in an aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon at a Harris County Wingstop.

James Daniel Henderson IV was taken into custody Wednesday at a local movie theater after authorities acted on a tip.

Law enforcement officials said Henderson was watching a movie called "No Escape" when he was captured.

Henderson's arrest came just hours after Crime Stoppers of Houston held a press conference to announce an increased reward in the aggravated robbery case.

On Oct. 2, Harris County deputies responded to a call at the fast food restaurant in the 10700 block of the North Freeway for reports of a robbery.  Investigators said Henderson shot a gun inside the restaurant, which was full of kids.

Officials said employees fully cooperated with Henderson's demands but he still he shot an employee, David Medillin.

Medillin's family said Wednesday he is still in the hospital.

"My uncle, he loves his family so much and we love him so much. Such a great person. Such a hard worker and he's always smiling, so to see him not smiling is so heartbreaking," one family member said.

Surveillance video captured images of Henderson inside and outside the restaurant.

Harris County investigators said over the past five weeks, 10 people have been arrested in connection to at least eight armed robberies on the north side, including the Wingstop.

Detectives said several of those arrested in connection to the robbery ring have been identified as gang members.

"It is very possible that more individuals have been involved and very likely that if his buddies are off of the streets and in the Harris County Jail at this point, others are being recruited," prosecutor Justin Wood said.
