Local 2 viewer donates air conditioner to man in need

William Burgs, 73, never had air conditioning in home

HOUSTON – A 73-year-old man who had never had an air conditioner in his home got relief from the heat, thanks to a generous KPRC Local 2 viewer.

William Burgs said the intense triple-digit temperatures had become unbearable.

"I'm sweating up a storm and it's really warm," Burgs told Local 2's Andy Cerota Tuesday.

Thanks to the generosity of a Local 2 viewer, Burgs has a new air conditioner.

The woman, who only wanted to be identified as Terry, dropped off the new window unit Tuesday night.

"I just thought to myself, 'How can anyone live like that?' I don't know. God called me, so I needed to come over and give him that air conditioning," Terry said.

KPRC Local 2 went to check on Burgs on Wednesday. His nephew, J.D., was helping him install the unit.

Burgs said his home is cooler and he feels blessed for what he's been given.
