HOUSTON -

A liquor store owner fired shots at an intruder early Friday morning, investigators said.

Houston police said the owner of a liquor store on Airline near Cavalcade rushed to his store after an alarm was triggered about 6 a.m.

The burglar carved his way into the store and used a crawl space to get around, police said.

Investigators said the store owner spotted a man he suspected of breaking into the store and opened fire.

Officers went to the store and watched security camera recordings and collected evidence. A short time later, neighbors in the area spotted blood on the ground and alerted police.

Police said the owner of the store was protecting his business and will not face charges.

A description of the burglar has not been released.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
