Strong winds blew into southeast Texas on Wednesday night with winds clocked at 40 miles per hour in Anahuac and Morgan's Point.
The gusts hit 60 miles an hour on Lake Livingston.
Local 2 recorded lighting from the Eastex Freeway near Beltway 8 in northeast Harris County, all the way south to Sienna Plantation in Ft. Bend County.
The heavy rain slowed drivers heading north. The thunderstorms also slowed flights at Intercontinental Airport between 45 minutes and an hour depending on the destination.
The Houston Fire Department and Houston police were on Lake Houston checking on a boater in trouble. Apparently his boat was taking on water during the storm.
Police said he was found safe and another boater apparently helped him back to shore.
The Coast Guard said it also got a call after the storm about a 22-foot boat taking on water near the Houston Ship Channel. It said two people were on board. A Coast Guard boat was not far away and went to help the two near mile marker 41.
