A couple who lived in the house told firefighters that they were sitting on the back porch watching the storm when lightning hit the house.

The couple said they smelled smoke shortly after the lightning strike and they stayed outside.

Firefighters were able to put out the flames. It is unknown how much damage the fire caused, officials said.
