A lightning strike is blamed for a house fire overnight Saturday.

The fire began at 1 a.m. Saturday at a home on Van Ness near Canino.

Investigators said the homeowner heard a loud pop in the attic and saw a spark sometime around 11:40 Friday night.

The homeowners said they weren't able to find anything wrong, so they went to sleep.

A couple of hours later, investigators said the homeowners woke up to the smell of smoke.

They quickly got out of the house and dialed 911.

Fire crews were able to get the fire under control.

Investigators believe lightning may be to blame, but arson investigators were called in to determine the exact cause.

No one was injured in the fire.
