HARRIS COUNTY – Authorities said a lifeguard prevented a toddler from drowning at community pool in northwest Harris County.
The Precinct 4 Constable's Office said the near-drowning happened around 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Auburn Lakes Recreation Center.
Officials said a 3-year-old boy was in the shallow end of the pool when he sank to the bottom. Both of the toddler's parents were at the pool but didn't see him go under.
Investigators said a lifeguard on duty pulled the boy from the water.
Officials said CPR was not necessary. The boy was taken to Houston Northwest Medical Center as a precaution.
Precinct 4 credits the lifeguard for saving the boy's life.
