HOUSTON -

Nearly a thousand SWAT team members and highly trained instructors spent the weekend in Houston participating in the annual Texas Tactical Police Officers Association (TTPOA) conference.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office and the Houston Police Department teamed up to host the event.

Lonnie Tullos, TTPOA's training director, said every available shooting range within a one-hour radius was used for training drills and conference courses.

“We bring instructors in from across the country who specialize in certain training, whether it be vehicle assaults, or rappelling, fast roping, handguns, rifles, whatever the team needs,” said Tullos.

Several of Saturday's courses were held at the Harris County Sheriff's Office training facility in Humble.
