Large reward offered in 1991 murder case of Deputy Roxyann Allee

HOUSTON – Authorities are seeking the public's help in solving the murder of Harris County sheriff's Deputy Roxyann Allee, who was shot and killed 25 years ago Friday.

Deputy Roxyann Allee, who worked at the Harris County Jail, was walking to her van after shopping at Greenspoint Mall on the night of Sept. 30, 1991, when she was abducted. According to police, witnesses saw two men force her into the van at gunpoint.

Allee's body was found around three hours later at another location. Police said she had been shot in the head three times.

Her van was found burned. The gun was never recovered.

"We have a public servant literally snatched from the street and killed 25 years ago, and today we are still looking for answers," Harris County Sheriff Ron Hickman said.

Allee was married to another deputy, Sgt. Kent Allee. The couple had two teenage children at the time of her death.

"From a personal note, I lived less than a few hundred yards from where her body was dumped. So I recall even then, working for the county, a tremendous amount of attention was paid to this case," Hickman said.

A reward of up to $20,000 is being offered for information that leads to the case being solved. The reward is part of the Office of the Governor and Texas Crime Stopper's Fallen Hero Reward – Texas Remembers program.

"Deputy Allee was a committed public servant who dedicated her career to the service and protection of others, and it would be a monumental injustice for her murder to go unsolved," Gov. Greg Abbott said. "We hope that renewing the public's interest about this case will uncover critical information, and bring closure to the investigation and her family."

Crime Stoppers of Houston, along with the 100 Club, is offering an additional reward of up to $10,000 through its Fallen Hero Project.
