LA PORTE, Texas – Police say a woman who allegedly loaded stolen items into a stolen wheelbarrow has been charged with burglary.
Shortly after 1 a.m. on Sunday, La Porte police said officers were dispatched to the intersection of North L Street at Alvy Drive in reference to a suspicious person.

Upon arrival in the area, police said they noticed a wheelbarrow sitting in the roadway on Alvy Drive with a Hispanic woman emerging from a parked pickup truck nearby.
The woman, identified by police as 31-year-old Elizabeth Lujan, began to walk away from the scene as officers approached. However, police said she was quickly detained for questioning.
Police said Lujan was discovered after a brief interview not only to have been entering a vehicle which was not her own, but was also responsible for the wheelbarrow in the roadway.
The wheelbarrow, containing stolen items from a second vehicle a few houses away, was linked to a third area in question -- a nearby residential garage which had been left open, said police.
In addition, authorities said the backpack Lujan was carrying also contained several stolen items.
Lujan, a La Porte resident living just a block away from the scene of the crimes, has been charged with burglary. Lujan will face a Texas State Jail Felony punishment of up to 2 years in jail with the added possibility of being fined up to $10,000.
