Man, 83, accused of trying to sexually assault housekeeper

JACINTO CITY, Texas – An 83-year-old man is accused of trying to sexually assault a 20-something woman who was cleaning his house, police tell Local 2 Investigates.

Tommie Reuben Duncan, of Jacinto City, has been charged with felony attempted sexual assault. He bonded out of jail after his arrest on Tuesday.

The incident happened on May 6.

"When she was done cleaning he told her there is another room I need you to clean," Jacinto City Police Det. Betty Silva said. "She went in that room and he went in behind her and slapped her on her buttocks and then threw her on the bed and attempted to sexually assault her."

Duncan then allegedly pushed the woman onto a bed and climbed on top of her. The woman says Duncan tried to kiss her and touched her. The woman says when Duncan tried to remove her pants, her belt became stuck.

The victim was able to fight off the man and run outside.

Court records, reviewed by Local 2 Investigates, say as the victim was running away, the suspect allegedly said, "That's OK... I can just go to the truck stop."

The victim flagged down a car passing by the house. The stranger stopped to help her and drove her to her parents' work where she called 911, according the court records.

Court documents state the woman was able to identify her alleged attacker in a photo lineup.

"It is very hard to know there can be people in your town that commit these kind of crimes," Det. Betty Silva said.

She now wonders if there could be other victims.

"I do worry. There could be other victims out there and I just hope there isn't," Silva said. "We at Jacinto City Police Department take these cases very seriously."
